Monty Goyal v. Navrang Singh, 2026 INSC 94 - Advocate - Disciplinary Proceedings
Supreme Court Sets Aside BCI Misconduct Finding Against Advocate; Notes That Complainant Had Sought To Withdraw Complaint
Disciplinary Proceedings -Allowing appeal filed by an Advocate and setting aside a judgment of Bar Council of India, SC observed: The genesis of the dispute was a mere misunderstanding regarding the deposit of costs which stood resolved during the pendency of the proceedings, the impugned judgment cannot be sustained. Once the respondent-complainant himself expressed complete satisfaction with the professional services rendered by the appellant-advocate and categorically sought to withdraw the complaint, the very substratum of the disciplinary proceedings ceased to exist.
